Hi everyone,
And welcome to IndieGrow.dev!
Brought to you by Ionut and Eugen - a pair of friends from Berlin set on a mission to make marketing and distribution easier for Indie App Developers. Specifically iOS developers.
Why?
Couple of reasons.
Some months ago we gathered up to work on some projects together. Timing seemed good on both sides and we had a shortlist of around 3 (I need to find that list!) - one of which was IndieGrow.
Between the two of us we quite like the customer group and we identify with indie developers trying to make a living from their products. We identify with that group from previous experiences as well - Eugen more so than myself - and we like to engage with that community wherever possible.
The other reason is that we wanted to play around with generative AI, understand it's capabilities it's limitations and its trajectory.
What?
So we asked ourselves how can we apply it to help solve the "distribution" problem; How can we extract the signal from the noise? Especially since there are around 30 to 40 thousand new apps being released each month.
Moreover we believe there will be MORE indie developers. It has never been easier to build "light" apps and we think this trend will continue. Not only across mobile, but SaaS web-apps, genAI and even games. Which means the distribution problem will only increase in complexity.
We're starting of course with mobile apps.
How?
Well, first we did some research on different ways that mobile apps grow.
Second we start chatting with Indie developers; Some that have made it a career like Engin or Will others that started a side project like Clement and Filip (XX??).
We've actually learned quite a few things - and we narrowed it down to a couple of features we could deliver and iterate on:
1. ASO Audit and recommendations (mostly prompting)
2. Competitor Research (LLMs + scraping)
3. Community Pulse (Agentic workflows with Langchain)
